The soundworld that Apparition as a whole connects to, is an effort to create a sequence of dystopian stories, an abstract narration of incidents in the digital milieu.
In the opening track ''Reach'', hi voltage rhythmic patterns and heavy bass lines trigger the senses with a fierce machinistic appeal; a reference to Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy and the likes of various industrial music etiquettes.
The slow ebm beat of ''Dabble'' brings to mind Cabaret Voltaire, with early NIN, Reznor-like vocals, lost in a whirlpool of ever-rising build ups. The bot guides us through a technologically pumping world, though reminding us its purpose “I am just a vision, your mind’s reflection’’.
The dark drexcyian electro of ''Corpo'' teleports us to an interconnected world where the destiny of the planet depends upon a conflict which happens exclusively online, the enemy breathes digits.
"Pilman" is a homage to existential horror, where modern man observes his descent to revelations concerning ambition, materialism and vanity. A crackling soundscape blends with the electronic groove and the rhythmic speech of Manuel POV starts developing an ever charging tension; It is an invocation to Dr. Valentine Pilman, a character from the post-apocalyptic sci-fi classic by the Strugatsky brothers “Roadside Picnic”...POV growls “our picnic was fun, the trouble began, when we burned our home”.
''Insider (part1)'' takes us on a journey to an industrial rocking machinery, where haunted guitar screams and syncopated bass lines lead into an outbreak of stabby synths and deconstructed drums.
''Insider (part 2)'' is inspired from the story about the Soviet ballistic missile submarine K-129 which sunk in the Pacific in 1968. The narration by Cos Chapman appears fragmented in a type of Burroughsian cut-up technique, expanding his description into new meanings. The distorted rhythmic patterns reach the limits of a fierce industrial beat, which dissolves into a sedative pulsating ambience.
Τhe cinematic theme of ''Doubt'' starts with a repetitive imposing bassy synth and while the decorative leads come and go smoothly, the flow is interrupted by throbbing clanging percussion; the ride is on. Τhe locked driving beat is contrasted by an eccentric modulated synth-pop riff, the melody as well as the sound might bring to mind Yellow Magic Orchestra in their “Solid State Survivor” days.
The Brief ''Still Here'' intends to build the tension of the previous tracks in a quick passive way, making its mark noticeable for further adventures in the world of Apparition.
On the whole, the album functions as an interpretation of questioning times about the technological metabasis into digital reality.
